Anybody still think it was a good idea! Never did Clive. I moved to Southern Ireland nearly two years ago, best thing I ever did, although moving our furniture/cars etc here was a an absolute nightmare with customs everything had to be itemised, brexit was to blame for that. The Irish can’t believe what we did. Think a lot people voted for Brexit so we could take control of our country again reclaim our borders and get rid of the EU bureaucracy well that hasn’t happened has it. Now we stand alone, as the French say we are just the Americans poodle. Darren... Southern Ireland are the poodles of Brussels and are beholden to them after 40+ years of take take take that has elevated them from a 3rd world country into a modern day economy I have to say a huge chunk of that money came from the UK as it did when we bailed them out during the 2008 banking crisis, when the EU and IMF deemed them too risky And how have they repaid us? Along with the French they were the biggest backstabbers during the Brexit negotiations and used Northern Ireland as a pawn in their negotiations causing a sea trade embargo between the UK ... yet the RoI still benefit from the CTA (common trade agreement) that allows their citizens free access to the UK and our NHS and benefits that you have to pay for in the Republic.. how much to see a GP €60 is it? Sometimes they need to see past their anti British bigotry and see what side their bread is buttered on !

We all make our bed ! Then we have to lay in it ! It's called democracy, and that means carrying out the referendum result of the UK people, unfortunately this toxic parliament we have has fought to block every move to fully exit the UK The Protocol and remaining in the ECHR being the 2 main issues for still remaining under Brussels rules I'm happy with "the bed I made" and in another 10-15 years I believe the EU will start to crumble, and we will be well out of it's undemocratic clutches

We’re now on our fourth prime minister since the vote and none of them have managed to get a good deal for the Uk, I guess if we did get a good deal then others may follow. You’re right Mike we did vote to come out and we won’t really know for many years whether it was the right decision. We all know there are things wrong with in the EU but I feel the concept is a good one and the only way to change things would have been to remain. Even Churchill said after the Second World War that we need a united Europe.

The common market in food, agriculture etc was acceptable in its original plan, however the EU is a much more political force, dominating and bullying smaller member states today.
I dont like this concept of an EU army either, that's why we have NATO

I dont like this concept of an EU army either, that's why we have NATO I respect your views Mike and you do have some very good points, but many people voted for Brexit thinking that we could take control of our borders and the £350 million a week that went into the EU pot would be ploughed into the NHS, schools, prisons etc, but now they are questioning whether they made the right choice !. I know it’s done now for better or worse, but would be interesting how people would have voted if they knew then what they know now ?

You both make good points! But I always saw Brexit as an ideological battle-eg the right wing Brexiteers want an American theme of govt eg low taxation & privatised public services & favouring the individual. They regard better workers rights, conditions ,rules on quality of goods / environment etc as petty hinderances to their profit making ambitions. Im afraid you get what you pay for-the problem is people want Scandinavian services but not Scandinavian taxes! Bloody hell think we better stick to footie!

Think you’re right Clive maybe we’ll come back to this in a couple of years time and see how/if things have progressed 😊
