That meeting was a farce! I gave up at 10 o'clock having sat there listening to a bunch of incompetent, incoherent idiots for over 3 hours. They spent the first two hours discussing an application for a night shelter in Molesey without making a decision and then moved on to the Stompond Lane application. There were a couple of "experts" from Surrey County Council's traffic planning section who had been invited to the meeting, presumably to help clarify traffic issues and they could not answer simple questions about predicted traffic volumes! They sat there shuffling piles of paper around clearly embarrassed about their shortcomings. At that point I'd had enough and left!

This application now goes to full council. We need to drum up more support. I was disappointed that more people did not attend the meeting last night. It was not nearly as well supported as the last meeting when the Weir pub organised a bus and there was a large crowd outside the Civic Centre with placards, etc. A lot more publicity in and around the town is needed. Make people in Walton aware of what is going on and what they will lose if the council (O'Reilly) get their way. I was amazed that now they propose to build a huge care home as well as an office block on the site which will completely dwarf the houses. It is rumoured that a deal has already been done with Stagecoach for the office block - so that the council can then get on with redeveloping Elm Grove (as well as Stompond Lane).

Thanks for the report Eddie. Trouble is, this week would always be a busy time for people, with Christmas coming up fast on the rails. Whilst i hate to say it,regrettably I don't think there is anything the public can do or could have done to thwart the council cretins who obviously had fixed the outcome some considerable time ago anyway, and sadly no amount of protest could have altered the inevitable outcome! We all know that monetary profit was always uppermost in their minds and the staged "public meetings" were just a false window dressing exercise. Let us hope that the majority of the council officials lose their jobs at the next local elections. Any idea when the full council meeting takes place? Will the football club be offered alternative facilities and if so will potential viability be demonstrated? Guess we can only wait with bated breath!!! Sorry eddie didn't mean to pepper you with questions!!!
