We have to put a wretched season behind us, conceding 92 goals, the vast majority of which were embarrassing cock ups, we had to expect to be well down the league. There were a few bright spots..the double over Guernsey, and the wins at home against Hastings and Worthing plus the 5-1 thrashing of Walton Casuals. Had it not been for these pleasant surprises we would be looking at step 5 in the Combined Counties League now! So we have to move on, Tony Reid has injected a new impetus and spirit,we need some new players with ability in several positions, not going to be easy given our mediocre playing budget! Our defeat on Saturday was very disappointing, particularly as we were getting on top in the second half up until conceding a needless penalty! Chasing an equaliser, we were caught on the break and Chipstead tapped in a 3rd goal to kill us off! Even so, we should have been in the lead anyway at that point as we hit the bar, hit the post and had another effort cleared off the line! But we survived in the league by the skin of our teeth, and need to move forward and look forward positively to next season. Full stops and slang expressions, pompey swan, are not really adding anything to a fans forum. Positive attitudes not negative attitudes are what life is about!!!!!
