The new set up at Walton and Hersham made a winning start to their regime. In a game played in fine weather for a change, it remained deadlocked until quite late on but the Swans, who had mainly dominated possession, finally came through.
Seventy-nine minutes had passed when Josh Tobin picked up the ball in the centre circle, strode forward and stroked the ball home from the edge of the area.

Not a huge amount in the game, We had the better quality for sure and they like so many others defended deep and well and were well drilled. We struggled to break them down and test a rather suspect looking keeper.
I would say 1-0 was about right. Stan again was the pick for me and I wish we used him more as at times he is unplayable

Great result for The Swans after a tough week. Very frustrating looking at the table, we are close yet so far away.

Yeah that equaliser for Merthyr could be massive in the end.

Yeah that equaliser for Merthyr could be massive in the end. First of all great to get the result ,we controlled the game and passed the ball around in our usual way ,wasn't much created by either teams the visitors chances came from our mistakes ,passing out from back, great finish by josh tobin ,heard both sides of the departure of Scott, but the big point is weve got to move on and whoever gets the job its a hard act to follow with wonderful memories, does any body no what the crowd was as it looked good once more but not announced ,the failure of the stweards to take an age to allow the fans to get through the gates by the tunnel caused an incident that neadent have happend ,after not allowing the megaphone to be allowed in but a sholling younger fan with a drum was ok ,all the departures in the week that once more in the history of the swans has happend before players managers come and go but the club will hopefully continue to progress ,for those going to Plymouth parkway and get positive result ,and final match v Poole Town at the hub ,a good season but a frustrating end ,

Just watched highlights-we were fortunate today in that Sholing didn't capitalise on this ridiculous suicidal playing out from the back-we have lost/drawn so many games tis season by outplaying sides & conceding so many unnecessary mistakes! Have to say not just Walton but having watched Match of the Day & the EFL highlights I counted at least some 10 goals being given away by this crazy backwards, sideways, backwards to the goalkeeper etc

If you go take a coaching course especially a FA Badge then if you don’t coach this style you don’t get a certificate or Licence…..the problem is everyone is over coached and the possession style so trademarked by Johnny Giles coaching is becoming ingrained …keep possession sideways and backwards
issue is at really anything but the top levels of the game teams don’t have 14 or 15 players capable of the off ball movement and vision needed……for this to work
Absolutely agree forcing errors is easier now than ever and Walton as a perfect example of probably giving away 12-15 goals from being in possession ….so we either need more higher skilled players or a modification in tactics
regardless of 23-24 season ending the coaching staff, players and in fact the whole set up did incredibly well …in 4 years since the appointment of Scott and his staff
hopefully the next chapter is capable of continuing to take the club forward …gates are decent enough to support a viable club again a playoff run in 24-25 would be the ideal medicine and I cannot see a desperate effort to bring in a new coach in the next 10 days
wishing Scott and the staff and players who have left all the best for the future and many thanks for the efforts and entertainment provided in the last few seasons
like many I have seen this club at the bottom I remember turning up for Tuesday night training at the Old Stompound Lane …gates padlocked and a notice fastened to them Morty shuffling up and down the street looking distressed, and getting on the team coach on. Saturday morning for a 3 pm game at Whitehawk …the driver refusing to leave the car park until he was paid for the trip
anyone catch the attendance yesterday ?
