Long post coming up, as there's plenty I'd like to get off my chest. Please bear with.
If you're planning a journey to Whitehawk, or Croydon Athletic - or Sittingbourne's old ground - look no further than our club website's Away Travel section. Whilst we're extremely grateful for Merv's excellent match reports, and I understand the job of maintaining the website is undertaken voluntarily (presumably at personal cost), even if squad photos may have no more than a brief shelf-life the site is evidently well overdue a tidy-up. It might be argued that the club's responsibility for this is all the greater having discontinued the supporters' forum on the official site.
Rather than carping from the sidelines, in a bid to help update the website information I compiled the addresses, websites and contact details of our 2015-16 Ryman South opponents. More than a week ago I used the contact tab to notify the webmaster of this, and emailed the list to Merv as backup. It's puzzling to have received no acknowledgment or reply as yet. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to do their job; I'd just like to help my club. In the present climate I feel it's particularly important for the club to be conscious of the profile it presents to the community.
This feeds into the broader point, which I know is of concern to other longstanding supporters, about the (lack of) information coming out of the club, particularly regarding future plans for Stompond Lane and Waterside Drive, which we now gather are intrinsically linked. I completely accept that Mr Smith may wish to avoid showing his hand prematurely whilst we await the outcome of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed Sports Hub site; would it not help, though, to give public assurance that the club is involved as actively as possible to try to secure the optimum outcome for W&HFC, whatever form that might take? I don't doubt that Mr Smith is very approachable at matches on such issues, though this is of limited help to those of us who rarely have the opportunity to get to games.
Many supporters will be aware of the continuing vigorous debate on matters affecting the club on the walton-on-thames.org discussion forum. Without a clear indication of the club's stance (although at one stage over the summer this appeared to be in the offing, dependent on the availability of an internet connection in Morocco), the void is filled by anyone who feels moved to pass comment, with all the potential this offers for wrong ends of sticks to be grasped.
Over to you, Mr Smith.

thanks for your work on the above "away support" page, much appreciated, I have checked with the club website administrator and he didn't receive your email I now have access to update the website, can you forward it on to me and I will update .
ps hoping to get team photo up as well
regarding chairmans statement ,perhaps I was a bit hasty promising something when I was on holiday, saying that nothing has moved on except we are awaiting the result of the EIA , until that is know we cant speculate , the EIA will either be in favour of the build or against it, there are lots of outside influences not connected with the club that do and don't want the sports hub, a merger was discussed but couldn't be agreed on so was shelved .
the main website profile page has been updated with information , it is a work in progress so please bear with us, we have also put up temp. pictures of the new squad in the club house for supporters to refer to , website ones hopefully will follow, regarding players that have left, players are contacted and don't return calls , so we assume they are not interested in playing for the club, so we move on, that can also be said for others who have left , they have left so are no longer part of the club.
please continue to ask questions and I will try my best to answer them

Many thanks to johnc for dealing so promptly with these concerns. It's very good to see the updated player profiles.

Over to you, Mr Smith. Completely agree your sentiments, CambridgeSwan, on the 'broader point'; and echo your thanks to John C upthread for making a start on a website update.

Over to you, Mr Smith. Sounds good. If you can send the list through to me I can set up a page on here with the listings. Thanks, Admin
