5,232 DAYS 18 HOURS & 30 MINUTES AFTER THEY FORMED, WOMBLES FINALLY GO ABOVE MK FRANCHISE
AFC Wimbledon's win against Oxford United saw them overtake MK Dons in the football pyramid for the first time last weekend.
It was June 2002, a new club was formed by fans of Wimbledon FC in response to their board moving their team 56 miles away north to Milton Keynes. Wombles have done it again from the 9th tier of English football Combined Counties League to the 3rd in Football League One, and now can look down on the MK Don franchise.
The FA said "it was not in the interests of football to start a new club" to Wimbledon FC fans. How wrong they were proven as AFC Wimbledon now sit proudly above Milton Keynes in the league table. Sitting above the franchise in the league table it got to be the biggest highlights for all AFC Wimbledon fans.
A wrong righted, two fingers up to the FA and those behind the relocation and death of Wimbledon FC.
Just hoping that one day l will see Walton and Hersham do the same in the not to distant future return back to the top flight of amateur football again, as they have been sold down the river by Elmbridge Council Stompond Lane should have been redeveloped its in a much better location, it's just goes to show nothing is impossible the Dons have proven that, and it looks like they will be moving back into Plough Lane soon as well thanks to a little bit of help from Merton Council.

AFC Wimbledon have shown what can be achieved when a club has positive leadership. Walton & Hersham are led by Alan Smith.

AFC Wimbledon was set-up formed by its fans, is owned by its fans, run by it fans, and exists for the benefit of it fans.
A Hollywood producer bought the rights to the AFC Wimbledon story “The greatest underdog sports story you’ve never heard,” in the words of John Green, the bestselling American novelist who will write the script. The production company is the one behind the Twilight films. The studio is 20th Century Fox. It's about how the fans who stood up to football’s moneymen. Allan Batsford will be played by Anthony Hopkins, Super-K (Johny Depp), Billy Edwards played (Tom Cruze), Harry Bassett (Denis Waterman), David Donaldson (Michael Caine), Roger Connell (Robert Powell), and Vinnie Jones (Vinnie Jones), Mmmm made it all up as the movie is about the new AFC Wimbledon rise to the top from the Combined Counties League, the Dons should make a few bob out of the movie. l wonder if Stompond Lane will be used in movie as the place where the success at Wimbledon FC was conceived by those superb players that left Walton & Hersham at the time which helped the Dons win those Southern League titles and entry into the football league first time around..
AFC Wimbledon fans have raised millions through the Dons Trust to help lift the club, they are heavily actively involved in helping out in the local community, they put on a lot of events which also rewards AFC Wimbledon by bringing in new Dons fans into the fold that they help out in the community, the Dons fans also have raised millions for charities like Prostrate Cancer.
I can't ever see any billionaire Russian commie, or some oil rich Arab Oil Sheikh ever getting their hands on AFC Wimbledon the Dons fans now have tight grip on how their club is run and won't sell their soul to the devil ever again.
