. . . against Hythe! They were a good side last season and will be strong again this time. Seem to be a mixture of good young players and a few who've been around a while. Nick Barnes (ex Swan) is with them but may not feature. Usually big, strong and physical?

They are favourites to win the league. I'm going for a draw tomorrow and a win on Tuesday night.

Didn't realise they were favourites to win and they did beat Faversham away getting three goals. After Burgess Hill, expectation have got higher but I agree a draw would be a good result and a win would be extra bonus.

Aaaargh! 0-4
In the first half in particular Hythe just scythed through our defence, created chances and other than some competent work by our keeper could have had a hatful. Mind you, when it was goalless after half an hour I thought if we could get to half time we could regroup...
Because I'm missing the game-changer - a straight red card for our number 4 Mark McLeod after four minutes. A two-footed challenge I believe, and Hythe players and bench seriously upset. From then on we were on the back foot as Hythe swarmed forward.
34 mins, penalty, 0-1. Two of ours shepherding one of theirs, no immediate danhger, no need to foul him...
39 mins, another penalty for them, keeper brought down forward both going for loose ball, but well saved.
41 mins 0-2. Daft defensive giveaway left their forward free and one-on-one midway in our half.
55 mins 0-3. Keeper could only parry a corner, poked home in a scramble.
78 mins 0-4. Well worked for a cross for a firm header that gave keeper no chance.
Swans weren't as bad as the score indicates - they had chances, but you can't play 86 minutes with ten men against a team fancied for promotion.
Team: Roberts, Blount (sub Lomas 59), Clark (sub Betancourt 74), McLeod, Ngeno, Grayland (c), Scarlett, Gladdy, Turl, Onieva (sub Hammond 59), McShane. Subs not used: Nunn, Warren.

I just think we let ourselves down today by the sending off and giving away 2 stupid penalties. Ok one of them was saved but there second one was another mistake by the defence. We still looked in it for half hour but I have to admit hythe didn't look that brilliant and I think there man of the match was their goalkeeper.

21.40 and just got in. My opinion on today: we shot ourselves in the foot twice! First McLeod got himself sent off for a horrific challenge after five minutes. No wonder the Hythe contingent were upset! What the hell is it with McLeod? He's a very good player but lets his teammates down time and again with his reckless challenges. Reminds me a bit of Dave Bassett, trouble is you just can't do that nowadays! Then, after conceding from a penalty but still being very much in the game, a terrible mistake by Greg Ngeno getting robbed deep inside his own half let in Hythe again to score. As the game wore on Hythe had more and more possession as we tired chasing the witth 10 men. A mention for the referee and his assistants: all three of them were terrible, but especially the man in the middle. He gave us very, very little and some of his decisions were unbelievable. I don't want to think that refs cn be biased or dishonest but this one had me wondering.
A word for the ten men: the football they played was excellent in the face of adversity - better than we've seen for many a day!

PompeySwan, I think you're underestimating the way in which our defence didn't seem able to cope with Hythe coming forward in the first half hour - they seemed to get past us too often for my liking.
