Most well organized ream I have seen for a long time, played a simple half field defence kept their shape superbly, blocked up passing lanes and let Walton have the ball in the first 30 yds and by then everyone in red was stationary……need for accuracy, less touches and getting wide and staying wide was never an option Gosport had to defend against ..
overall really disappointing completely outclassed and out played .going to be tough to go for another promotion without adding some pace out wide that can cross a ball …really missing today …both wide players repeatedly came back inside to recycle and on the very odd occasion they did go for the byline the final ball into the box was woeful
4-0 should allow Manager to speak a few truths in the dressing room everyone has to step up their game if team in Red are going to be in the mix come end of April
crowd looked decent once again ….maybe some turkey amd spuds will provide dividends next time out

Christmas comes early for Gosport
This was a really poor performance from the Swans and showed quite clearly where they are in this league. Gosport gave us a lesson in what you need to do in this league: their superior physicality was quite obvious and some of our players were anonymous. If we are going to play a big centre forward then we need to give him some decent service. Also we need to learn our lessons: to keep getting caught trying to play the ball out from the back is suicidal. How many times have we been guilty to making the same mistakes. Was it a bad day at the office or do we need a rethink?
The usual:!26 minutes in and a terrible defensive lapse lets in Gosport for a goal.
Gosport made it 0-2 in the 42nd minute when what looked like a foul was not given and the opposition went forward and scored.
On the stroke of half time Gosport made it three .
A breakaway in the 85th minute gave Gosport their fourth and this was compounded soon after by a red card for Eoin Bolger when he brought down a Gosport forward who would have been clean through.

At the end of the day we have some players out there that are just not good enough and our defence is a mess making far too many mistakes and giving needless goals away. We are still in with a chance of the play offs but that defence needs sorting out!!!

The formation we use doesn’t work for us at this higher level and with some of the players we have in the team. Buy hey, it’s our first season at this level and we will learn hopefully for next season . Thought our centre forward was always second best to everything today but then so was most of the team!!

We had great chances first half but defensive errors cost us in first half gosport punished us and took there chances well Daniel wooden did and second half goal punished us ,worst home defeat since same score in combined counties league v Dorking wanderes reserves ,its been a great year so no nead for negativitivity ,to those who are going boxing day enjoy but have a great Christmas day and look forward to putting Saturday behind us and a win at bracknell ,enjoy it have a great day ,swans will be back ,I brought away kit will wear it pride over Christmas,

Just watched highlights-Scott sensible & measured as usual ,however the plusses of playing these suicidal pretty triangles in your own penalty area have now become outweighed by the amount of unnecessary goals conceded. It always seems to be the first goal in the game which leaves a mountain to be climbed! Have to say it's not just Walton who are made to suffer ,the amount of goals conceded at the top level by pissing about at the back seems to happen regularly also! All for playing cultured football but not in your own penalty area-playing with fire Im afraid!

Agree BC ... the negatives of this passing out from the GK are starting to outweigh the positives
Gosport had obviously done their homework on us and pressed high to force mistakes, whereas lesser teams are happy to sit back and hit us around the half way line.
I noticed Gosport themselves don't adopt this style of play so much and I do think it's time to rethink our tactics, given the defenders we have got, why oh why do we linger on the ball so much in our own half, we need to show much more urgency to get the ball forward 🤷

Trouble is Richard these are the same mistakes that occur virtually every match & are very avoidable-you can get away with it at the lower levels as we have better players .Unfortunately at this higher level in tight games against similar quality players you need to cut out the needless risks otherwise you will get punished!

Richard
You are hung up on this "negativity"
We all know how far the Swans have come after plummeting to near extinction a few years ago, but to continue this upward trend (like any business would) things need to be constantly reviewed and changed, or we become static ...that includes this passing out from the back almost every time as it is costing us soft soft goals.
It's not "negativitivity" it's a desire to achieve more for the Club, and I have no doubt Scott and Billy will be examining it's current failure/issues ?
C O Y S ...HAPPY CHRISTMAS 🎄 🎅

We all want our club to progress, which they have probably done beyond our wildest dreams in the last 3/4 years. we are halfway through a season at a higher level and I think we all would have settled for our present league position. But we simply have to stop making the same sloppy mistakes, and maybe have a plan B if things aren’t going to plan. We are now at a level where even the lesser teams have a bit of savvy about them.
