The few travelling Swans fans were rewarded for a long trip to a game played in absolutely foul weather with a rare away win. Swans could, and should, have won by a wider margin but for their profligate finishing. In the first couple of minutes Trae Cook got through one-on-one with the Sholing 'keeper who made a fine save. Then in the second half, which Swans controlled well, Cook again got one-on-one with the 'keeper who again made a good save and Trae had another good chance. We also missed a penalty.
Swans took the lead in very unusual circumstances in the 35th minute. The referee awarded Swans a free kick for handball by the Sholing keeper when the ball had gone over the byline but the Lino didn’t give it out for a corner. The free kick was hit across goal and it came back to Stan Flaherty who blasted home.
On 77 minutes Swans were awarded a penalty when John Gilbert was brought down , the offender getting a second yellow. Eddie Simon smashed kick against the bar.
Although he dished out yellow cards like confetti, the referee had a good game.

Normally your reports are excellent Eddie - this one needs additional Eddieting

Normally your reports are excellent Eddie - this one needs additional Eddieting I did the report when I got home - getting on for 23:00. Special mention for two players who haven't had much game time and came into the team last night: Arsen Ujkaj who was solid at the back, and Eddie Simon who worked tirelessly throughout.

It was on the cards that Eddie would miss as back playing in a more central roll and wanting a goal to endorse that that is the right decision for him.Great to see Arsen in the mix as a solid no nonense player every team needs. Anyone remember George Goode? He played for a while in one of Batsfords great teams but was not as talented as those around him but was 100% effort in every game and did a job. Great to see more forward play last night too. We can still edge a play off position but these next 2 games a important to start a winning mentality again. Well done all, last night.

Have to agree that Eddie was superb- the penalty would have been just reward but he worked tirelessly. A really gritty performance and next to Hungerford for a huge game

Great result, I predicted correctly apart from the number of goals.

Your after match reports are always much appreciated, Eddie. Thank you. We aren’t going for play offs.! That’s just the supporters that expect that. The goal of all teams newly promoted is to and should be to stay up. It takes a couple of seasons to secure the budgets in what is a much more expensive league.

That's the aim of Directors, management, supporters and players. Does that mean we expect to reach them and will be angry if we don't? Not at all. We were bookies favourites to win the league at the beginning of the season, though few really believed that was realistic. An excellent start to season increased everyone's expectations about what was possible but nobody is going to be too disappointed with a top half finish. Goal shouldn't just be to stay up though. This isn't the EPL.

Headmasters41 nothing wrong with going for the playoffs position what have got to lose .the club didn't put us up as favourites in this tough league ,tomorrow's game is going to be tough and all matches beyond are tough ,give it everything and see what happens ,the frustrations of recent results ,last Saturday and then the ups of Tuesday, to those who go Saturday have a great day and 3 points ,come on you super swans ,
