A very memorable game for Ramsgate and an instantly forgettable one for the Swans! Ramsgate got held up in the horrendous traffic chaos caused by a serious accident on the M25 which I had also endured on my return from Croatia this afternoon. They arrived at Stompond Lane at about the same time as I did, which was after the due kick-off time. The ref delayed the game for 45 minutes to give them a chance to get ready and warm up. Then they had a player stretchered off after about a minute and another harshly red-carded by the dreadful ref after about five minutes. I am sure a lot of sides would have crumbled but it seemed to inspire Ramsgate and they took the lead and held it for most of the game until Will Turl headed a superb equaliser with about ten minutes left. It was then more or less a siege on the Folkestone goal but if Swans had scored again it would have been an injustice on the brave efforts of the 10 men. Walton and Hersham seemed one-paced and clueless against determined opposition. I don't get the idea of playing Hammond on the left when he is obviously better on the right from where he can cross superbly whereas most of his teammates seemed incapable of getting the ball past the first defender today.

A step in the right direction at least.

Frustrating, when all the events conspire for once in our favour, that we can't grab the 3 points and have to settle for just 1 !! In virtually all the games I have seen this season, we seem to be playing the ref as well!! Anyway, lets hope we can start a trophy run up at Waltham Abbey tomorrow!
