If I didn’t know better, it feels like we are slipping back to the days of a certain owner / director, who sacked successful managers just for being … well successful.
So there must be more to this unexpected bombshell than meets the eye. We will all no doubt be judge and jury and conjure up and voice our own ideas and reasons on this forum, why the club decided to do what it has done. Think the club should come out and tell us why this decision was made, with only an honest response and the what plans for the future is with the new manager when appointed and the club to, and if a manager is not appointed before the next game, who will manage the team until an appointment is made ?
However, I think we ought to consider the ramifications of the sacking !
Obviously with Scott now gone, presumably Scott’s back room team and certain players will go wherever he goes to next which is the norm in this level of football as the players tend to follow the manager around the N/L scene.
A number of players will or might have already left club as a result of the sacking, again this is normal in this level of football unless on a contract.
The new appointed Manager, will surly bring in his own players, unless he has been told to work with what he has. If external players are brought in, this will squeeze current loyal players who have stayed at the club as a result of this action, out of the starting 11 and the subs and they will leave as well. It will also show up players that the new manager sees as having no future with the club.
Who ever takes over the helm, will need to show an almost immediate impact and success with wins, with what is left over from the fall out of this.
I wouldn’t expect instant success either. It may take a season or two to get the right players, structure, formation, style of playing to start the promotion push, and that may also mean another change of manager(s)…
Only saying….

Do you think we can conclude we are under control from someone on the other side of the pond? Is the “class of 18” really in control?

There are only two directs Tucker and Corey. Corey acquired shares in the club and became a director. Presumably they made the decision to sack Scott. Calogero Scaloni is a Director too

I'd be surprised if we can put a team out on Saturday!

Do you think we can conclude we are under control from someone on the other side of the pond? Is the “class of 18” really in control? Are we really just assuming and pinning the blame on one person because he happens to not be British? As someone above mentioned, most clubs who progress through leagues have this at some point, where owners feel the managers have gone as far as they can. It's extremely sad and needs to be handled properly, but it doesn't meant the board / owners are suddenly clueless regardless of their nationality.

I'd be surprised if we can put a team out on Saturday! Can't imagine the players will just leave Eddie - they are all paid by the club and they've got nowhere else to go as it's too late to register anywhere, regardless of their affinity to Scott and Billy.

They aren't on contracts. None of them are. Just pay as you play. And they will walk if they are Scott loyal and don't want to play. So yes we could have an issue on Saturday

Has Billy also gone ? Interesting he did the after match interview on Saturday rather than Scott!

The timing is my issue here- a new manager has no better chance that Scott of getting us to the play offs. If performance alone was the issue and that the play offs were a minimum then the axe should have come in January not with three games left!!!
He deserved to see the season out if it was felt a change was needed do it then and let the fans wave him off with the send off he worked so damn hard for and also what the fans have earned.
Personally I felt Scott would have led us to promotion next season and I’m not alone in that thought based on what we have seen.

I am blaming our atrocious form over the last 26 games which saw us win seven games and get 11 points from 12 home games. Surely this is the reason for this decision?
We got off to a flying start but once we lost our unbeaten home record to Plymouth, we went on a downward spurs punctuated by some good wins but typified by a feeling the other sides had worked out us and we were going to struggle. In fact our record over this period is actually more akin to a side struggling to avoid relegation not challenging for the play offs.
Incidentally Calogero Scaloni is not recorded as a director as companies house.

I would t say worked us out as such- we made mistakes previous seasons but they weren’t punished as often or made little difference as we could out score teams so easily. The quality in this league is much higher in respect getting punished and the sides are better organised and drilled.
What we have lacked is what all the sides at the top end have- a proper goal scorer getting 20-30 goals and we do t have that.

This is incredibly short sited by the owners and a decision that will have consequences on and off the pitch.
The organic growth train has now come to a grinding halt - great football, growing fanbase of 500+ at home, and competitive in almost every match this season in a league that we are minor details away from having more points on the board and be higher up the league and in the play off mix.
The management team, led by Scott, WAS the draw for players coming to play here, guarantee it’s not the money.
We will fall short this season but my word, win lose or draw I think everyone would agree on the whole we have had our money’s worth.
I’m sure Ed, Rich Olds (I know there are others, apologies!) will share the state of this club when Scott came aboard and the many years before. The owners have taken the praise in recent years and rightfully so and I hope they have the substance and backbone to take the criticism for the decision and how it’s been handled.
Transparency and authenticity crucial now more than ever regarding the reasons behind this.
Saturday at home will be quite interesting….
